Therapy Services, L.L.C. is fighting the flu by encouraging all patients to wash their hands as they come into the clinic. Hand washing is important all the time, but especially during the cold and flu season. As the weather gets colder, runny noses and coughs tend to get worse. This means an increase in germs on the surfaces we come into contact with everyday. Proper hand washing techniques prevent the spread of harmful germs and bacteria in our body. Hand washing should occur before and after food prep, after a trip to the bathroom, after coughing/sneezing, before eating and several times during the day after touching public surfaces. Start with warm water and soap. Make a lather by rubbing hands together for 20 seconds (the time it takes to sing the happy birthday song twice). Make sure to focus on the backs of hands, wrists, between fingers and under nails. Rinse hands thoroughly with warm water and get towel to dry hands. Finally, use towel to turn off water so yo! ur clean hands don’t touch the dirty faucet handle. If warm water is not available, cold water will do. If no water is available, use hand sanitizer until you can properly wash your hands. These simple steps will help ensure a healthy flu season for you and your family.
